Lindsay Edward Fox: Starting With One Truck

February 23, 2013 Enterprise No Comments

Lindsay Edward Fox’s father was a truck driver. There can be no doubt the younger Fox was exposed to trucks and the trucking business at a very young age. He was born on April 19, 1937 in Sydney, Australia. He spent his youth in Melbourne going to school there at Prahran State School and Melbourne High School.

Schooling did not seem to appeal much to Fox dropping out when he was sixteen. Naturally what came to his mind was trucking. At the age of 19 he began his business in Melbourne by buying one truck. Fox delivered soft drinks in the summer season and fuel during winter.

Today Linfox Logistics is one of the largest privately owned logistics company in Australia. From one truck the company has almost 5,000 vehicles operating in 10 countries. The enterprise operates more than 3.8 million square meters of warehousing. It has more than 19,200 people in its payroll.

In the Asia Pacific region the firm provides logistics services to the world’s largest natural resources company, the world’s two largest consumer goods companies, and one of the world’s largest retailers.

Aside from his business Fox has been involved in a number of charitable and civic causes most notably finding ways to increase employment in Australia.

As they say great things start from small beginnings.
